Vinted Users Voice Anger Over Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
